Road king Police Anyone ever see a police car going well over the speed limit with no lights or siren?
i mean if they're actually in an emergancy with lights and siren on then obviously thats a different matter but what makes so many of them think they can always do whatever speed they like themselves if they make a strict condent over speed limits for the rest of us road users? I've seen one shot pass me (being a pedestrian) doing least 50 in a 30 (no lights or siren)
Do they think they're king of the road, they can break whatever rule of the road they want and we cant or summin? just cos they're the police?
Well it's been a while since I've seen such a large group of people spouting off about something they clearly know absolutely nothing about!
Police Officers are exempt from three traffic laws when responding to an emergency job. That's RESPONDING not responding with lights and sirens going. They are:
1 - Speed limits (it is recommended not to go more than 20mph over the limit so your 50 in a 30 is acceptable however 150 in a 30 would still be legal if not a tad stupid)
2 - Red traffic lights
3 - Keep left/right bollards
However, just as is the case with any member of the public, they can do anything they want on the roads as long as they can justify it at court.
You do not use lights and sirens going to a burglary otherwise the perpetrators would be long gone when you got there. And yeah sometimes it's not a major rush but you need to get there pretty quickly. So you stick the lights on to get through heavy traffic then turn them off again when you're clear.
Yes people have been killed by police cars and where they are at fault the police have been prosecuted. A Police Officer speeding through a speed trap will also be prosecuted. People forget it's not the 70s anymore and the police do not get away with stuff like they used to. In fact the police are prosecuted more harshly than the public are, for example all police accidents are investigated with the same level of thoroughness as an injury accident involving two members of the public.
The public complain that police response times are too long then complain that they drive too fast. It's a good job that the police are thick skinned and realise that these people are only out to criticise them no matter what happens. Lets just hope that you don't need the Police anytime soon cos they might need to break the speed limit to help you "or summin".

Has anyone else rolled their Jeep TJ Wrangler?
I rolled my '98 TJ on Wednesday doing about 45 mph. I was a moron, reaching for some Burger King in the passenger seat, and when I looked up, I was heading for the ditch on the side of the road. I rolled once and landed on all fours. In fact, after the police and paramedics checked me out, I was actually able to drive it home. I ended up with a sore shoulder from the seat belt, and some small scratches on my head. Needless to say, I was VERY impressed with how is kept me alive. The Jeep was totalled, according to GEICO, but was still driven home. Anybody else have some Wrangler wreck stories?
Jeep was lifted with ProComp 2" coil springs and had 31" tires. I ran it with no top and no doors.
well i didnt roll a wrangler but i did roll my bros cherokee close to the same stupid mistake my slurpee fell over during a slow ass turn and i went to pick it up and boom i hit a light post climed a bit and then rolled over trashed the jeep but luckly i had my seatbelt on cuz i was hangin by it when it was upside down. also i have got in an accident with my wrangler some stupid brod on drugs pulled out infront of me last freakin minute couldnt stop and boom slammed into her back end completely crumpling my front but luckly it wasnt totaled or else i would have cried cuz thats my freakin baby.

So…you have had your ride for a few months. Would you get it again? It looks great, I'm thinking about picking up a Road King Police edition which is why I'm asking. It is essentially the same bike but it has more stock black, a different seat and a 103 engine.
I don't think, you can buy get them after market. But contact, any police department with a motorcycle patrol. Since your a police officer, they should hook you up.

Go to your city maintenance yard. They probably have them laying around. It may be illegal to use them.
