I have a 2001 Electrta glide with over 100,000 miles Harley offers a remanufacturing of my engine at factory?
Only answer this question if you have had this done. Are you happy with the results & the exspense of having it done? Did you remove your motor or have local dealer do it? Is there a warranty and would you do it again?
unless your motor is blowing oil, using oil (1 qt every 1k miles), making unusual noise. then I wouldn't send it in for re-man. OK that being said
Harley offers a re-manufacturing process (the price is around $2,000). If you have a dealership remove the engine ship the motor off and then reinstall the motor it comes with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty.
I had my evo re-maned 5 years ago and have put about 50,000 miles on it with no problems.
Would I do it again? No, I'm a tech now and I can do all the work myself a lot cheaper. Now if I wasn't a tech then here's my answer for that. Depends whats wrong with the motor. Top end work? No. Bottom end work inside the cases, Yes. By the time you pay for that labor then its cheaper to get the re-man done.

how to route the external oil lines on a 1974 Harley sportster engine and a custom oil tank?
I have a horseshoe shaped tank with two holes on the top rear, one on the right and one on the left and two holes on the bottom R & L..
There should be two 3/8" lines and one 1/4" line.
- The 3/8" oil line from the return side of your oil pump will go to the top of the oil tank.
* If you have an aftermarket oil filter or oil cooler it will come from there. Otherwise it comes from the upper nipple that's on the transmission (behind the sprocket cover.)
- The 1/4" camchest vent line will go to the other top hole.
(It's the one right behind the rear exhaust tappet block.)
- The feed to your oil pump comes from the bottom of the tank.
- The other one is not used.

After you hook up the oil lines, add oil, and start the bike you should look inside the oil tank and make sure oil is returning into the top of the tank.

I am misusing the term “balanced”. But I believe we are both referring to the same thing – Harley engines do not fire at even 360 degree intervals, but rather in gaps of 315 degrees and 405 degrees, as described here:
With Harleys belt drive the belt is flexable and allows for engine and tranny movement, same with a chain. I would imagine a shaft drive would have a u-joint of some sort to allow for some movement of the engine also.
All Harley Evo engines are rubber mounted.

Harley engines are famous for poor oil distribution while idling. The whole reason for revving engines while idling is to keep oil flowing throughout the entire engine. It helps keep the engine from being damaged. Ask any motorcycle mechanic and they will confirm this.
The Brand is Harley Davidson…and the distinctive feature described is the peculiar firing of the the Harley Engines making it sound like “Potato-Potato”…

So these were smaller than a Crosley? I've only even seen one Crosley up close and I thought it was pretty tiny
