How tough to handle is the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 compared to the Sportster 883?
I love the new 1200 Nightster, but I'm not sure if it's going to be too powerful. I actually looked at the specs, and the 1200 is a lighter bike.
I love the new 1200cc Nightster, but i'm concerned as to whether or not it has too much power and weight (especially weight) for someone not used to heavy motorcycles - I ride dirtbikes. I found out that the 883 actually weighs more than the Nightster, so I'm wondering how this all plays out. Thanks in advance!
In case it helps, I'm on the small side - about 5'8", 170. I'm athletic, and I've handled bikes before (albeit dirtbikes), so I hope I won't have much trouble with these bikes.
look up the weight for the roadster. that's my bike. running weight is 585 and it rides well enough to do 400+ miles in a day. and in the twisties, its responsive enough for me. u will have fun with this bike for sure. just get a sundowner seat put on it from the get-go and u'll be happy. i'm too tall for a nightster....my seat is 4" higher. and once the bike gets going, its very easy to handle. u would do well to ignore these idiots have have zero saddle time, have never been on a sportster on the street, and have no clue to what they're talking about. u'll appreciate the weight as it absorbs the road bumps.

I was looking at a 2008 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200N but is it a girls bike?
I think the all black one looks pretty awesome but I've had buddies tell me sportsters are for chicks. Let me know what you think.
Well, I am a girl and was going to buy a Nightster. I ultimately got a Dyna-so is a Dyna a girls bike. I know girls who ride Deluxes, Fatboys, Streetglides, Ultras, V-rods, Sportsters, and a Springer. Damn, not many bikes for the boys to buy if you look at it that way. Harley-Davidison does not make motorcycles for women, if they did they would come in pink.
Try a 750 honda shadow or any of the new bikes that style are low riders. I'm short too but 180 lbs and have a 1000 Virago and it's the lowest bike I've ever had. I've also had a RM 250 motorcross and that was the highest bike but it was a blast. would have been impossible on the street pretty much at stop signs though. lol
