HARLEY DAVIDSON riders?

"New generation" riders, not the bike/brand. Why are newer riders of the company so wrapped up in themselves? They spend more time parked and admiring themselves in restaurant, coffee shops and grocery store parking lots than they do riding the machines. I've noticed that they will park as close to the doors of a business as possible only to "pose." They will wear all of their leathers and skull caps only to go to the grocery store to buy a gallon of milk, again they will sit, pose and have a smoke before and after buying the milk for junior at home. If they, the newborn "junior zoomies" ride as a group, they will find any excuse to pull over and stand around trying their very best to look "Bad to the Bone." Frankly they look like what they are, fools that have more money than they have riding experience. When will this end??? FTW

You sound cranky. Why are you lamenting this issue on the computer when you could be riding? (Of course, I should be working, but am waiting on paint to dry.)

Ride to Work. Work to Ride!

I suppose you prefer riding as a lone wolf, gauging your speed by how well the wind parts your beard. It almost sounds like you're a wee bit jealous that the other guys have friends and aren't all about being cowboys on iron horses.

Holy fuck I totally took a picture with this guy. He’s in Vegas by the Harley Davidson shop.

  • Hey Daniel,

Unfortunately, I was just a volunteer and didn't help organize the event. The only thing I can say that may be useful is that the local Harley Davidson shop was willing to give us a really good deal on a bike to raffle off for the event. I think the bike raffle pulled in the most money.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes!

  • Mike,

I agree with your points on the Ford Pinto case, especially about the cost/benefit analysis as a consequence of doing business. I recall watching the video on the case as one of the students argued the point that it was immoral to even consider putting a dollar value to one's life. The thoughts I had were that the things we do on a daily basis all have risks associated with them: from driving to work, flying on vacation, to the basics of eating food and taking medication. There's little you can do without taking risks, but more importantly, her own lack of risk/benefit acceptance should not automatically penalize Ford Motor Co. for those who were willing to accept greater risks by driving a compact car. I'm not for the loss of life, but I am for am for people to take in all information and make a realistic judgment call based on the information available at that time. When your job is to review dozens of accident reports per day, you become de-sensitized to cases especially when minimal Pinto fire cases had been reported. For me, the decision was not as clear cut at that time. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Furthermore, I'd be curious to know what type of life insurance premium and payout she has established for her family. Was she willing to put a number to either her life or her family now?

It was also interesting to drive by 96th & Keystone near the Harley-Davidson shop where “SMART” cars are now for sale. What would everyone's reaction be towards the parent company be if this golf-cart sized vehicle gets rear ended?
