How can I find out the value of some gently used Harley Davidson accessories (leather saddlebags, etc)?

I want to sell them but there is such a wide range of prices on the Harley site and I don't see any close enough to what I have to made a good guess. I want to be sure I ask a fair price.

Qwick rule of thumb. 70% of retail will usually makes them go. In this economy you may have to go to 60%, even if in like new condition.

1993 and 1994 Harley Davidson retail prices... when new?

I'm trying to figure out what the new price was in 1993 and 1994 for a Harley Davidson Police bike, FLHTP. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!
Please, no guessing or opinions... I need solid pricing that I can refer to for a bid I'm working on. There's got to be a web reference out there somewhere. BTW, $18-27K is waaaaaaay too high for 1993 cop bikes.... brand new 2008's cost right around $17K

While I don't know, I do have a few suggestions as to where you can ask:

Many HOG (Harley Owners Group) chapters have a historian. Contact your chapter and ask them. Often the historians are fellow riders with 'experience', so they have time to look these things up for you.

Contact Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC. The folks that run that place will probably KNOW the answer, without looking it up. If you ever decide to go ride the Tail of the Dragon, make a pit stop down there. It's an awesome place.

  • what type of bike are you looking to get? Street, cruiser, touring? I would assume you are looking at a Harley type bike because you are taking the course there. But that assumption could be a easily be wrong.

  • Just to throw an idea out there, your budget would be able to buy a much newer, aka much more reliable metric cruiser. They will also be more safe to ride since they would have more modern brakes and suspension. If you have to get a harley then get a harley but I would not want either of the bikes you listed, even as a gift. Too old and too slow, plus they are asking too much money for bikes that are as old or older than I am.

You could probably get a mid to late nineties Honda Shadow with that budget and I am sure he would be much happier on the thing than on either of the maintenance nightmares you listed.

While you are at it get a lid and some gear for the guy so he is ready to ride when you give it to him. I know I would not be able to wait to ride if I had a gifted bike waiting for me, but then again if I came home to one of those I guess I could. Nice thought, but unlike the saying goes, the thought really only goes so far.
