2000 Harley Davidson Electraglide Backfiring?
Replaced the OEM mufflers on my 2000 Electra (EFI) with Pig Pipe slip ons, it now backfires when decelerating can/do I need to to get it re-mapped to solve this problem? Or is there something else I should do? Thanks, Dez
A backfire like that is a lean burn condition.Re-mapping should help fix it.If the pipes don't have enough baffle in them it will probably keep doing it.They need some back pressure to run right.A lot of people think they are getting more power from straight pipes but it's untrue.Unless your running a drag bike un-baffled pipes will make it run worse not better.My 02 electraglide still pops when you roll off the throttle even though it's re-mapped with a power commander.The D&D pipes on it just don't have enough back pressure to prevent it.
