I am going to buy a Harley Davidson, which should i choose?
I cant decide between a fat boy or a touring model.Either way i will have a windshield and side bags.the electra glide seems a bit too big. the fat boy feels good. how can i meet in the middle?
What kind of riding do you plan to do? The Fatboy is fine for a weekend ride.and occasional long trips , but a touring model is better suited to highway models. I haven't heard of bagger wobble in 20 years or so. unless the bike had alignment problems. the BMW arguments are outdated about the same. I have lifted the rear tire on a 2005 ultra glide classic, so the brakes seem to work pretty well. The Heritage is basically a Fatboy with Bags and a wind shield. To get decent bags on a fatboy you have to remove the shotgun pipes, and you wind up with a heritage with solid wheels any how. Your seating position on the softail is lower. try them both and see which one 'fits'. I ride my ultra about 3x as much as my Lowrider. its better in rain and the bags are great for errands.I paid less for the Ultra then my riding partner did for his BMW,in 2005. guess which one is worth more now?.

2600 miles (600 by me) I am now conscience of a noticeable clunk when up or down shifting - fast or slow. Gear box oil level and clutch disengagement are ok. Is this a characteristic or fault developing
Einstein above is CORRECT.....that is just simply a natural noise for an HD. Like he said...I also HIGHLY recommend REDLINE TRANS OIL 85/140.....it will run cooler, shifeter smoother and make less noise. It's the ONLY oil I put in my customers' bikes........speaking of oils........NEVER use HD SYN3 synthetic....it's JUNK....use AMSOIL, LUCAS or MOBIL 1, V-TWIN oil synthetics....20/50...the same oil is ok to run in the primary also.
EDIT: I agree with rb below about the trans but have to strongly disagree with him about synthetics.........syn's DO NOT HARM HD BEARINGS !!!!!!.....PERIOD. I know all to well about the damage to bearings he is describing...it is NOT CAUSED BY SYNTHETIC OILS......it it is caused by weak oil pumps and people idleing their bikes too long at too low of an rpm.....peple love the low rpm "loping" sound an HD makes, so they set their idles too low to produce that sound and lose proper oil pressure...HD's run a very low oil pressure at idle...about 10psi at 1000 rpm....if you set the idle down to get that loping sound...it WILL detroy the crank bearing in the fashion that he describes.
If you go to the Harley Drag Races....you will see $50,000, 800 horsepower top-fuel dragsters running nothing but 2 quarts of pure synthetic oil......if synthetic caused ANY damage to bearings under noraml street conditions....do you think the drag bikes would run it under the stress they put an engine through???.....I don't think so......I have an '04 Dyna with a little over 45k miles, still an 88" but worked, well over 100hp/100ft/lb torque, been runing amsoil since 2500 miles and not one oil related issue has ever occured. Also........S&S, the industry standard in high performance engine for Harley's recommends Mobil 1 for their engines....their engines are WAY more high output than HD....STICK WITH SYNTHETIC AFTER 2500...it WILL run cooler, smoother, lat longer and give you better mileage.

Nach Jahren der klaglosen Akzeptanz war Titania fest entschlossen, sich auf eine ihr eigene, distinguierte Art zu revanchieren. Was lag näher, als dem ungehobelten Ochsen die dazugehörenden Hörner aufzusetzen, und ihm zu zeigen, wo der schwäbische Bartel den sauren Moscht holt. Doch Titania war auch eine konservative Ehefrau und ihren Männern weitgehend treu. Eine einfache Affäre erschien ihr angesichts der unzähligen, kleineren und größeren Demütigungen und verletzenden Verfehlungen ihres Gatten zu kraft- und stillos. „Ich muss wie eine erfahrene Guerilla-Kämpferin vorgehen. Kleiner Einsatz mit großer Wirkung, dort wo es am meisten weh tut.“ So dachte Titania und sie begann mit der Planung einer ehelich-defensiven Verteidigungstaktik der Voodoo-inspirierten Nadelstiche. Da gab es zum Beispiel Gutfrieds Lieblingsspielzeug, nach seinen Fleischwürsten und gleich nach Salome, eine mit allerlei exotisch verchromtem Zubehör so umgestaltete Harley Davidson Fat-Boy, dass sie zu teuer war, um aus der klimatisierten und mit grünem Hochflauschteppichboden ausgelegten Garage heraus an die frische Luft bewegt zu werden.
