I just bought a used motorcycle from a dealership and they lied about a bunch of stuff. What can I do?

I bought a 1976 Honda GL1000 from a Harley Davidson dealership. My dad picked it up because I was out of state. First of all, they said there were no leaks and that it was "clean as a whistle." Just in the drive home my dad noticed a major oil leak in the valve cover seal, a leak in the front fork seal, and a leak in the water pump. Also, my dad asked about the saddlebags because they were on the frame but not really connected in any way. The sales guy said "Yeah, they're totally secure." My dad hit a bump on the way home and they both fell off and are now all scratched up. I discovered when I got to the bike that there were two bolts laying in one of them that hold them on the frame. Finally, I bought the bike thinking it had 35829 miles. I have now realized that it goes up to 35899 and then back around to 35800, so who knows how many miles it actually has. So is there anything I can do? I feel like I paid way too much for what I actually got.

I think you have little recourse.
Doesn't mean I don't feel ya , but used sales are almost always as is.
A court would say that there should be an assumption of defects on account of the age of the vehicle.
The only chance I see you have is if you have them on tape declaring it "mint".
OR a written contract guaranteeing "mint".
Sorry.
Fixing an old cycle can be fun though. It may be worth more to you in the long haul if you fix it up.

LEMON laws ONLY pertain to NEW vehicles.
If it lasted 30 years it cannot be deemed a lemon , cause they fail right off the assembly line.

    Laptop Fund Raiser Update
    New River Harley Davidson
    Jacksonville NC

    GOE Laptops Web Site

Hundreds of troop supporters gathering in the rain and cold to attend the annual Chili Cook Off Challenge held by New River Harley Davidson dealership to fund purchase of laptops for our Wounded Warriors today. In spite of the winter storm spirits were high and seven motorcycle clubs were busy cooking up their special chili to compete in this years annual compilation. The Texas Road House Restaurant crew was also serving up their special brand of chili to warm the body and lift the spirits of all. As the band plays on many new friends were meet and information was provided concerning the laptops mission and how they could help spread the word to others.

A special thanks to all those who worked so hard and braved to ice and cold to attend this fund raiser and to send their “Thank You For Your Service” to those who have suffered wounds in our name
    .
The management and staff of New River Harley Davidson worked very hard to plan and host this event and has assured me that the laptops mission will again receive the donations of all funding received in next years fund raising event.
Don Thomas at New River Harley Davidson headed up this years event and he showed the citizens of Jacksonville NC to true spirit of America. Thanks to all for your support

  • I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Mr. Maurice Lefevre at the Harley Davidson Dealership in Meridian, MS a few weeks ago (He owns the Dealership for you Harley riders). We had a great conversation for about an hour or so about these great SING recordings of the 1960's. Maurice was very instrumental in getting SING recording up off the ground and becoming very competitive with the Nashville studios. This was one the best efforts that SING put out,,,and the singing of the Prophets is outstanding. This is one of my favorite albums (Guess where Wes got it!!!).

This is AWESOME (pardon the caps). I'm the web administrator for two Harley-Davidson dealerships (actually, the second is deemed by the “Motor Company” as a satellite store) and we could use this immediately with our customers. I can't tell you how many customers don't have any idea about IM programs or options. Now, a customer could be visiting our site and instantly pop us a question. Of course, we could be doing something similar now, but our employees are all WAY to technophobic. This might relieve that as well.
Regardless, I'm plotting right now who would be responsible for monitoring/messaging people, shifts, and how I could explain it to my bosses…who don't really want to hear about any of this.
Thank you Silicon Beat! I just recently discovered your site. It's awesome.
