Do Harley riders really believe their bike is a "horse of chrome"?
If so, that would signal some type of mental dysfunction, eh?
Too much stroke, too much weight, too much marketing. (For me)
Marketing is what comes into play here; they market a little too strongly so that an uneducated buyer becomes biased against other types of bike.
This happens not only for Harleys, but other motorcycles. Not to mention cars, clothing, etc. A Honda isn't the best car you can buy, but everyone driving one will brag how reliable it is. A VW is a great car, but it's not the best car to maintain. An educated motorcyclist will pick a Harley knowing that it's not the fastest thing, but it's probably comfortable and suits their styling preferences.
Yes, all sportbike riders are gay... Go drive your SUV into a starbucks. Dang those Japanese and their fancy technology!
Some people appreciate having a 16,000 RPM redline and the ability to do a powerwheelie. Some other people appreciate having a radio and comfortable seat on their bike. It's preference.

I have a 95 harley heritage I want to sell?
The bike is a Heritage Nostaliga edition in excellent condition with 22k on it what should it bring when i sell it? It is two tone grey and black with alot of chrome on it . It looks as good as a new Harley and the tires are almost new.
too bad the resale value of used harleys have been dropping like rocks in the past few years. remember when you could buy a new one, ride it 3 years and then sell it for nearly what you paid for it? seems like the proliferation of all the customs and harley's expanded production numbers have wreaked havoc on the used market. i would buy it, but i never liked the nostalgia that much. if you like it, just hang on to it, or wait for someone to fall in love with it and pay you more than what it really should sell for. kelley blue book says it should retail for $12,510.00
i wouldn't sell my 89 softail custom for that. but i guess it just depends how badly you want to sell or how badly they want to buy. good luck

The Harley Parts book has alot of customizing stuff in it….
Here's a "Tip" ….alot of guys will change the Air cleaner & Exhaust…. ( Screamin Eagle )
Beware…by doing that , you mess up the Air/fuel mixture….
Then you need it "Re mapped" which costs around $500
The Bike I bought had the stuff changed , but they didn't
remapp it….it was running a little lean ( not good )
I had the Harley Dealer put in a "Power Commander"
and they tuned it in on a Dyno….Runs great now…
Sounds like your part could be made outa Aluminum and
then Polished out…..or steel and have it Chromed….

Have you checked J&P, Custom Chrome, or any of the "cutting edge" shops? I haven't bought in a long time (make my own) but I know they have revamped many of the catalogues.
Or, have you considered removing the stock part, bead blasting, and send it out to a chrome shop to have it chromed?

I am strictly a dirt rider so I have no real bias on this subject. I have over the years owned a couple Harley's as well as metric sports bikes. For the record I have only owned 2 Harleys out of over 30 total bikes. I have not encountered any Harley owners, and I've been around many of them, that felt they were superior because of the bike they ride. Yes, they love their Harley's but that's personal taste and it's no ones business what another person prefers to ride. This whole thing about Harley riders acting superior is propagated only by small-minded, insecure non Harley riders. It is comments like yours here that keeps this whole thing alive, not the actions of those you choose to pass judgment on. No one that makes remarks like this can possibly be a real motorcycle enthusiast.
Whats a matter? Your old lady run off with a biker? Ya know, if you've never ridden one you wouldn't understand. There's two types of people in this world, those who own Harleys and those that aren't man enough to own one.
