How necessary is it to remap (re jet) my Harley after adding aftermarket exhaust?
I just added some slip on tips on my bike, do i need to get my bike remapped now ( i have an EFI) or can i wait untill i get my stage 1 intake. They are only slip ons and not full pipes and i'd hate to have them remapped twice, because it is expensive. But my engine is more important to me, if damage is the issue...
And any eazy diy way of remapping?
I have a 2009 sportster.
you don't need to remap until you get more air through the engine, and to do that you need to unrestrict both the intake and the exhaust, doing just the exhaust won't increase the airlfow through your air cleaner, so it won't require more fuel. (on the flip side, though, you should realize you will actually lose a slight bit of power just doing the exhaust, you won't see a gain untill you do the intake and remap.... but your engine will be fine untill then)

Has anyone out there used an aftermarket compensator or clutch balancer on a Harley primary?
If so is it any better than stock.
Ever heard of snake oil? It's the same thing. Depending on the year & model HD you have, it will vibrate @ different intensities, for different reasons. i.e. rubber mounted or rigid mounted engine, counterbalanced engine or not, etc. The balancing compensator will not give you any noticable reduction in the vibration. Save your money, check your motor mounts, especially the top one. It has a tendency to loosen. And ride it, and enjoy it for what it is, and out of date engine style that has a character all it's own.

Oh noise pollution. Well yeah….I can’t deny I contribute to that! I am quieter than most Harley aftermarket pipes, but I’ve occasionally starled folks when laying on my throttle. I hope they keep in mind lawn mowers, weed wackers, and cars when drafting this law.
