If I buy a Harley Davidson on ebay from the USA what legalities do I have to go through importing it into OZ ?
Is there a Quarantine period? What taxes do I have to pay? How do I get it to pass Australian standards? What do I need to register it in Queensland? Is it worth it?

How do I purchase a motorcycle safely online?
I'm looking at buying a harley online in FL and I'm from VA. The pictures are all huge and high def so I know its pristine and only has 5k miles. But how do I send $ to someone and know I'm going to be getting the bike without getting ripped off from a private sale? How does the title get transfered if theres a clear title and no lien?
I agree with the previous. As a rider myself, I think you shouldn't buy one based on pics. You want to be able to see it in person and hear the motor, inspect it, and if you have cash, a test ride. Not to discourage you, just to try to give you some advice. It's tempting to want to by online because you have a lot to choose from. However, you may receive it and it may not be what you expected or it may need some work that they '"forgot" to mention. If you're going to by online, check the sellers reputation and policies so you don't get cheated. Good luck!

Harley clones are both cheaper and have better performance than Harleys, look at the Victory such a better bike and even more americian, and Harley easily outsells them all and at a permium price. Imagine a bike identical to a harley but without the harley name or even a japanese name. It would be pretty much a non marketable bike even at a much lower price than the harley clones that have their own reputable names for service and reliability.
You already know. From a totally objective view point the harley is an under-performing antique.

the suzuki c50 is great, 805cc, same with the s50 jsut a style difference, but they also make a s40 wiich is a 650cc single great bike that gets exceptional gas mileage. c50 were called the volusia before 2005, s50 called the 800 intruder and the s40 was the savage. you can pick them up used, fairly reasonable. i have an 04 volusia and love it. excellent bike.
